Whatever, truth in the matter is that Rocafella has no good artists. Tell me one thought provoking, inspirational, or groundbreaking album that ROC has produced. Tell me just one that could even compare to the likes of Labor Days, Fantastic Damage, The Cold Vein, DeadRinger, The End of the Beginning, or I Phantom.
Again, you bring up a point that is pointless. I don't care about battling. I would much rather listen to a conceptual album instead of someone shouting battle lyrics at an invisible opponent. Doesn't mean I don't listen to it at times, but I prefer concepts that inspire and make you think.
You want to call me out for a battle? Go ahead, dick. You can call me out until you're blue in the face. I won't respond or even acknowledge the thread. I don't battle. I don't feel as though it has helped me advance or improve upon my writing talents. But you can call me out all that you want. And you can call me a pussy, and you can claim that I am just making up a lame excuse to duck a battle, and you can state whatever the Hell you want. Truth in the matter is that ever since I have been here, that has been my philosophy. Ask some people, check my posting history.
Summing up, Twista is terrible. The Takeover sucked. Call me out all that your ass wants to, I don't care. You just said, "Fuck you, you niggah." You don't need the second "you" and I'm white so I suppose you mislabeled who that was directed to. Def Jux still is better than Rocafella.

yeah whatever fruit.....the thread says jux vs roca.....
plus tha fuc you dont make sense...i only like phantom I and just a couple of joints of labor days...the rest is wack.....
el-p spits wack lyrics on rock beats....cold vein was ok, not that good but average the rest is garbage.....
now compare that to kamakazi or adrenaline rush, memphis beek, and REASONABLE doubt.....
yeah.....
aesop rock can be tight but alot of his shit sometimes dont flow at all therefore skip track is inevitable.... |

| If we are going to look at pure talent Definitive Jux is by far better, plain and simple. |

| i was pratically raised on Jay-z's Reasonable Doubt. Thought provoking? shit it gave me a different grip on life. a album about elevating from the hard ships, and bullshit of what life, has to offer you, into success. what has def jux done for you. |

LoL....That Made Me Laugh..
That Was The Best Hip Hop Album Of 2001...I Know Non UG Heads That Even Agree With Me..
And Since When Did This Thread Turn Into A "Vs. Battle Thread" ?
Envisionz Said "Strongest Artists"
Battling Ability Has Nothing To Do With Anything, Although Im Pretty Sure Camu Tao Could Make A Better Battle Track Than The Whole Roc.. |
| Posted by your_end |
*phew*... aint really into that other crew or what not but R.O.C. is tight...
Cam
Jay
Bleek
Siegel

I agree with you, but that's only one album. Reasonable doubt is one of my altime fav's but it doesnt dig the Roc outta the hole its in now.....7 years later...... But at least Jux come's with better shit then "Diplomatic Immunity".....for real now
There's more quality artist on Def right now, its as simple as that. One album doesnt make a record label, sorry. |
| Posted by kool-killa |
ROC wins no contest whatever those fools say......the best Hip hop lp of 2001 was the chronic lp by dre, dumb ass....and it got awarded by the source XXL and urb magazine.....
yall kan keep talkin whatever but the fact remains that roc has way more street cred and way better sales cuz their fans wanna hear their shit.....even on the mix tapes where their underground freestyles are bough too,

i dunno how you can compare the two...one is gangsta rap orientated...and wack...and the other...is just def jux...no need to explain it...murs would have to the most gangsta of def jux...but thats like so limited its not even worth talking about...you cant compare two completly different styles o label...now if you compared roc,and then the mobb, then youd have something to cmpare, both very similar.but i know nothing baou tgangsta rap,so i wouldnt know if they were cool with each other or what...
but anyway, def jux is iller...iller...so much iller then that commercial bullshit churned out from the roc...

The only magazine there worth a damn is URB.....
And the best album of 2001 is The Cold Vein. |

Wow Like I Care What A Hip Hop Magazine Says And Does...They're Ignorant And Ignore The UG Anyway..So Its Just Slightly Biased..
Although We Can Argue Allday About This... Its Always Gonna Be UG Vs Wackne*Cough* I Mean Mainstream. |

Def Jux makes Rocafella look like shit.................................
Actually Rocafella makes Rocafella look like shit..............................
As you can tell from my av, I think Def Jux is tha bomb diggity
JIGGAMAN AND FRIENDS dosent even compare nowadays
I used to bump Jay-Z back in the day too, but now it's just tha same shit over and over
I don't even consider Rocafella peeps artists, they just say what most people want to hear.
I'm not saying ure un-intelligent if you listen to Jay-Z, but Def-Jux requires sum smarts to understand, and I appreciate them not dumbing shit down just to appeal to the masses.

Aesop doesnt really battle dude, have you listened to Daylight or Labor Days, his shits amazing.
Amateurs? most of the Def-Jux crew has more talent then anyone on the Roc.....

Cam is better than Hova????
Cam is better than Beans???
Cam is better than Free???
Please...go back to the newbie rooms and re-learn your hip hop...
Jay Z alone could defeat Def Jux...hahaha...what a stupid thread...
Nothing good since RD?? PFFFFF>>>>hahahahahahh...thats probably the stupidist thing I've ever seen on a rap board...
Blueprint was a classic...everyone knows that...and thats just one example...and when Black comes out...its gonna continue to set the record straight that Jay is one of the greatest artists to ever live. |

| Jay-Z is the most talented lyricist on Rocafella. It all pretty much goes downhill from there. |

THis is a old ass thread, but is relevent to an article I read yesterday..that should dead all off this.....
Here is some of a interview with Aseop Rock....... a Def Jux cat...........
What are you listening to at the moment?
I just got the new Freeway album on Rocafella, I think that shit is f*cking sick. It’s weird, because when you’re on a label where most of the cats live in Brooklyn and you like most of their music you just end up listening to your friends. Aside from that I listen to Beatles, I try not to listen to hip-hop too much because I get sick of it after a while. I listen to everything from mainstream, underground…
You got a wide range of like and influences?
Yeah, so I recognise what is good with a lot of genres of hip-hop or whatever, so everything from people that kinda underground and a little more dirty with the sound to like completely cleaned up Jay-Z. I’m a fan of a lot of it.
Heres another one from another interview....
Who would you really like to collaborate with on a project?
I don't know. Musically I feel like most people I'd want to really collaborate with I already know. Except like, Wu-Tang or Roc-a-fella. But I'm cool, because I truly am a fan of most of my friends’ work, so as far as I'm concerned I got what I need. I just wanna keep making dope records and find interesting visual artists to design them. I'd love for Chris Ware to do a cover for me, but he probably wont. I don't know. Visually, so many rap records look exactly the same. I want to do shit that is raw rap, but looks and sounds completely original, so i'll colab with whomever it takes to make that happen......
...I find this VERY interesting to all you closed minded backpacker mu'fuckas.....Your 'Messiah' Aseop Rock likes mainstrem artist!.....Ohh My GosH !....Lol....At least dude got half a bit of sence about this hip-hop as a whole even though his nerdy fans don't...
And for my own opinon...for all around attridutes in an emcee Jay-Z is the #1 Mic Fiend in the world...he may not be the best in one catagory but he top five in everything (Flow, Candence, Wordplay, Similes, Metas, Song Arrangment abilty....ect....) and that gives hime an overall better score then cats who are outstanding in one part and falter in another ...
Heres the link to those stories just in case you space rappers are in denile...
